If you’re expecting a baby, you might have seen both Fresh 48 and Newborn Sessions and wondered… Wait. What makes these different?
Both are beautiful. Both capture this once-in-a-lifetime season. But they are actually very different experiences. Deciding which one is for you can be a tough choice. So let’s break it down.
What is a Fresh 48 session?

A Fresh 48 session usually takes place within the first 48 hours after your baby is born. These can happen at the hospital, birth center, or even at home if that’s where baby is born! I come to you. Whether that’s local in Clarksville, TN or even to Dickson, Pleasant View or Nashville.
This session type is loosely posed, raw and emotional, documentary style and focused on connection and all the fresh little baby details. It captures things like those tiny hospital bracelets, wrinkly toes, flaky newborn skin, and siblings meeting baby. There’s no heavy styling or posing. No props. No pressure.
Fresh 48 sessions are about preserving the realness of those first hours.

What is a Newborn Session?

A newborn session usually takes place when baby is between 1-3 weeks old. Sessions are done at my cozy studio located in Big Rock, TN, just outside of Clarksville, TN.
I like to do a mix of lifestyle and posed for my newborn sessions. These sessions are slower and more styled. I take the time for you to settle in, coordinate outfits, and soothe and feed baby.
Newborn sessions focus more on beautifully composed and perfected images, family portraits and soft, intentional styling. It’s less about the rush and emotion of birth and more about settling into life as a family.

Do You Have to Choose?
Not necessarily. Many families choose to document both of these important milestones, because they tell two different stories. The beginning. And the settling into it. Fresh 48 captures the blur of time that goes way too fast. Newborn captures the bonding when you’ve gotten to know your baby a little better. One doesn’t replace the other.

A note from me…
Those first hours with your baby are unlike anything else. Time feels suspended. It’s magical. Two weeks later? It already feels far away. There’s no wrong choice here. Only the story you want documented.
If you’re expecting a baby and wondering which session fits your family best, I’d love to talk through it with you. Because these moments? They don’t keep.
